Government will be heightening efforts to explore diversity and efficiency across police departments in the country.
This was revealed by President Advocate Duma on Monday in Gaborone at the 51st Botswana Police senior officials conference held under the theme: “Innovative approaches in modern, policing closing gaps and building trust”
According to President Boko, efforts have been made previously, but extensive work is yet to be done on improving efficiency. Addressing at least 300 police commanders, Boko said government will be taking mitigations to counter challenges that hinder police work.
“Let me reaffirm that your government is courageous in making reforms. Shortages in accommodation, transportation and even basic services needs that exalt your work will be met,” said Boko.
Boko expressed concern that trans-organized crimes can only be dealt with only if enhancing resources can be achieved.
“We need to use technology, research has shown that in most part of your work, you spend at least 60% of your work time making reports against the 40% of fighting crime. We have an obligation one way or another to make use of artificial intelligence to improve in service delivery,” stated Boko.
