BOTSWANA WINS BIG AT RASA

Botswana has continued its dominance in sports, walking away with five prestigious awards at the Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) 2025.

Held in Zimbabwe recently, the spotlight was once again shifted to Botswana with its golden boy, Letsile Tebogo, scooping the Sportsman of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year awards. The awards added to the wing-footed sprinter’s glittering trophy cabinet, which seems to be growing by the day.
According to a press statement, Letsile’s feat was more than just a personal triumph but that of national pride, denoting Botswana’s rise as a sporting powerhouse. Further, adding to the accolades, was the 4 x 400m Men’s Relay Team, which was named Team of the Year, Kebonyemodisa ‘Dose’ Mosimanyane who won Coach of the Year and Collen Busang Kebinatshipi, who won Junior Male Sportsperson of the Year.

Over and above Botswana’s success at the RASA 2025, the statement noted that the awards saw swimming being crowned the code of the year, characterised by increased participation, performance and continental enterprise.

“With record-breaking achievements and emotional moments that captured the spirit of African sport, the 2025 Rasa will be remembered as a celebration not just of champions, but of a region pulsating with pride, talent, and an unstoppable drive for greatness,” stated the statement.
The regional awards, which are held on a rotational basis yearly, underscore a regional commitment to grow sports. RASA seeks to motivate member states to celebrate outstanding sports performances.
