MABOGO DINKU TRUST TO HOST PULA AFRICAN SCHOOLS SPEAKING CHAMPIONSHIPS (PSSC) 2025 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BOTSWANA

Botswana prepares to welcome Africa’s brightest young speakers this December.

Botswana is gearing up for one of the continent’s most anticipated youth intellectual events as Mabogo Dinku Trust moves full steam ahead in preparations to host the Pula African Schools Speaking Championships (PSSC) 2025. The tournament, previously announced earlier this year, will take place from 10–15 December 2025 at the University of Botswana.

The PSSC 2025 will bring together high school teams from Government and Private schools across Africa for a continental celebration of debate, public speaking, and youth leadership. Guided by the theme “Positioning Debate at the Crux of the Future of Education,” the championships aim to spotlight debate as a transformative learning tool capable of reshaping how young people think, lead, and engage with the world.

Hosted by Mabogo Dinku Trust, the event is delivered in partnership with the Tanzania Competitive Rhetoric Organization (TCRO) and the University of Botswana Debate Masters Association (UBDMA). This cross-border collaboration unites some of Africa’s most experienced debate institutions and demonstrates a shared commitment to youth empowerment through literacy sports.

TCRO, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary after successfully hosting its flagship tournaments in September, brings seasoned expertise and a strong East African debate network — assets that strengthen the logistical and competitive standards of the PSSC.

UBDMA, the University of Botswana’s premier debating body, anchors the technical side of the event with its established background in adjudication, mentorship, and competitive debate training. Its involvement ensures that the tournament meets high standards of fairness, quality, and educational value.

Together, the partners are shaping the PSSC 2025 into a landmark event on the African schools debating calendar. With the University of Botswana serving as host venue, the championship is poised to leave a lasting legacy in the promotion of debate culture and literacy sport.

As December approaches, participating schools, parents, and debate enthusiasts are encouraged to follow official updates on registration, team announcements, debate motions, and public speaking topics.
