Mochudi Center Chiefs Unveil New Head Coach Miguel Corral Torreira

Staff Writer

Local football giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs (MCC) have this morning unveiled Miguel Corral Torreira as their new head coach. The 34-year-old tactician, who was born in La Coruña, Spain, expressed confidence in his understanding of the local game, revealing that he has already been scouting players from Botswana.
“I would like to understand the team further, but my immediate focus is on winning the first match,” said Torreira at a press conference held on Friday morning. “The expectations at this club are very high, and I am here to ensure that the club wins major titles.”

Torreira described himself as a young coach who intends to bring aggression and intensity to the local game. He added that he plans to introduce tactical changes, noting that MCC is already a high-level team.
“I believe this is a strong side. I bring confidence and versatility, and I want to help the team make a positive switch in the way we play,” he said.

Meanwhile, MCC president Stanton “Stiga” Fredericks said the club is currently focused on developing strong internal structures as part of its long-term vision.

“We are working towards clearly identifying the team and ensuring that the right structures are in place,” said Fredericks. “Success is important, but we want to progress beyond finishing fourth. We have a vision that spans five to ten years. This is not about overnight success, although winning a cup would certainly be a bonus.”

Fredericks also revealed that the remainder of the season will be used to assess whether both the coach and the team are aligned for a long-term relationship.

“The nature of football is that coaches come and go, but that is not what we want at this club,” he said. “When we recruited the coach, we believed he has the capability to instil a strong team-building culture.”
