“Less Talk, More Action”: Boko Sets Blistering Pace for 2026 with Surprise Hospital Inspection

Staff Writer

Signalling that the holiday break is firmly over, President Duma Boko has wasted no time in setting a rigorous tone for the new year. Just days into the 2026 working calendar, the President bypassed the usual cabinet formalities and opted for “boots on the ground,” conducting a random, unannounced check-in at Princess Marina Hospital today.

Accompanied by the Minister of Health, the impromptu tour was designed to cut through red tape and scripted reports. According to the President, the objective was to directly assess patient welfare, medicine availability, infrastructure, and the condition of critical medical equipment without the polish of a prepared visit.

Stripping Away Formality

The visit serves as a clear statement of intent for the administration’s agenda this year: less talk, more action.

“This impromptu check-in tour was essential to assess effective leadership,” President Boko stated following the visit. “It stripped away formality and scripted reporting, allowing me to see the true conditions on the ground, hear directly from frontline workers and patients, and confront realities as they exist, not as they are presented in boardrooms.”

The President’s findings were stark and immediate. He highlighted an urgent need to ease overcrowding, decentralise diagnostic services, and—crucially—fast-track the procurement of MRI, CT scan, and X-ray machines. He also emphasised the necessity of upgrading district hospitals and improving labour conditions for healthcare staff.

A Year of Experience, A Year of Execution

Political analysts suggest that this move indicates a President on much firmer footing. With a full year of governance experience now under his belt, President Boko appears to have moved past the initial learning curve of the presidency. No longer just navigating the corridors of power, he is now leveraging his position to demand accountability.

While the first year of his tenure was defined by transition and stabilisation, 2026 is shaping up to be the year of impact. The confidence displayed in this surprise inspection suggests the administration is ready to tackle systemic issues with renewed vigour, specifically targeting the bottlenecks that have long plagued the public health sector.

Setting the Tone for Government

While the focus today was on healthcare, the message resonates across all government departments. The Princess Marina visit serves as a warning shot to all ministries: the President is watching, and he is interested in “unfiltered engagements” rather than curated presentations.

By prioritising honest assessments over diplomatic niceties, President Boko is driving a narrative of urgency. If today’s visit is the barometer for the year ahead, the nation can expect a presidency that is visible, hands-on, and intensely focused on delivering real solutions to long-standing problems.
