Mzwinila Case Back in Court

The former Minister of Lands and Water Affairs Dr. Kefentse Mzwinila’s case in which his assets were frozen pending finalisation of investigations against him is back in court this morning.

Last week, Gaborone High Court Judge, Oteng Motlhala, postponed the matter to today for arguments, stating that he needed time to go through the filed records.

In the matter, the state, through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), initially moved for an ex parte application seeking a restraining order against assets of the former minister. According to court records, Mzwinila is suspected to have engaged in money laundering and with the state investigations alleging that he was living above his means.

Meanwhile, he has since fled the country whilst his legal team fights the accusations against him.

Mzwinila is yet to be criminally charged.
