President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has today launched the Forensic Audit Public Engagement Platform geared towards providing the nation an opportunity to share information to assist the ongoing audit.

Speaking this morning in Gaborone, President Boko said the 1st phase of the forensic audit, which was launched on 20th March 2024, is completed. Boko said the objectives of the audit were outlined initially to investigate, assess, and identify corruption in state entities, government ministries, government departments, statutory corporations, and regulatory bodies. Boko noted that with the completion of phase 1, the audit is now progressing to phase 2.

He indicated tha the 2nd phase now entails the detailed audit of the identified 30 entities to be covered in accordance with the schedule to be established by and between the government and Alvarez & Marsal, a company engaged to carry out the forensic audit.

To this end, Boko launched the Public Engagement Platform to accord the nation an opportunity to assist the audit with any valuable information that will be treated as confidential.

“We are at a stage where it has become necessary to invite members of the public to come forward and provide any information that they may have on any corrupt practices, fraud, and any embezzlement of public resources, ” he said.
